Long Way Round

Remember me my love, I'm the one you're dreaming of.
Going for a ride, I'll keep you warm inside.

I'm Gonna roll up the sidewalks, I'm gonna tear up the ground.
Comin' round to meet you, The long way round.

Sooner or later, I'll get me off this track.
Gotta do what it is that I do and then, I'm - coming back.
Got sun in my face, sleeping rough on the road.
I'll tell you all about it, when I get home.

Gonna roll up the sidewalks, I'm gonna tear up the ground.
Comin' round to meet you, The long way round.

Well, today started out great!
I was driving through a little town, and decided to pop into this little motorsports dealership there. Oddly enough, they had a couple brand new KTM Dakar Rally race bikes on display. I ended up chatting with the KTM representative, that just so happened to be there also, and after talking about the bikes and the Dakar Rally for a while, he asked me if I was interested in test driving one of them. I was speechless! "ABSOLUTELY!" It was a dream come true!. "This bike is exactly the same as the one Cyril Despres will ride in next years knock knock knock Dakar Rally housekeeping...
"Huh? Pardon?"
"You're welcome to take it for a spin around the block, or around town, knock knock knock, or in fact, if you want to leave your bike, and just take it for a few days, housekeeping..."
What the..?
That beautiful motorcycle in its bright orange, blue, white, and red paint scheme, that Red Bull work of art, was fading, and this white foggy haze was rolling in. I wanted to take the guy up on his offer so bad!!  But he was fading too! What's going on?
Knock. Knock. Knock... "Housekeeping"
The bike was gone, the shop was gone, suddenly I felt my pillow pressing against my cheek, and the glaring morning sun shining through the window...

Really?
It's freekin 8am!

And that's how my morning started :)

The rest of the day was filled with sunshine, mountains and twisty smooth, fast, highways.

A quick stop for lunch turned into an exciting little trail adventure that went on for a little ways (and likely too far), when the beautiful hiking path I was on ended, and turned into an animal trail. I probably should have stopped, but I just kept going. That bike is great, it's nimble and such a great off-road machine, but it's like driving a freaking tour bus when it's loaded and you're in the forest on a trail made by a family of foxes. It wasn't hard to get in a little too deep. The term "single track" would have been generous. Good fun.

I rolled into Prince George and sprayed the bugs off the bike, and found that one of my Touratech aluminum rad guards is cracked. I'll have to jb weld it tomorrow, and see if it holds.

Looking forward to the drive to Kitwanga, BC. tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is as nice as it was today! I only needed one extra layer.

Can't say the same for tonight though, whooh it's chilly, at the little Blue Cedars Campground.

(I wish I could add an audio clip of the bloody racket the coyotes are making right now!)

Night night, here's some pics:
