Long Way Round

Remember me my love, I'm the one you're dreaming of.
Going for a ride, I'll keep you warm inside.

I'm Gonna roll up the sidewalk, I'm gonna tear up the ground.
Comin' round to meet you, The long way round.

Sooner or later, I'll get me off this track.
Gotta do what it is that I do and then I'm - coming back.
Got sun in my face, sleeping rough on the road.
I'll tell you all about it, when I get home.

Gonna roll up the sidewalk, I'm gonna tear up the ground.
Comin' round to meet you, The long way round.

Well today started out great!
I was driving through a little town and decided to pop into the little motorsports dealership. Oddly enough, they had a couple new 2013 KTM Rally Race bikes on display. I ended up chatting with the KTM rep that just so happened to be there. After talking about the Dakar Rally for a while, he asked me if I was interested in test driving one of the bikes. I was in heaven. "This bike is exactly the same as the one Cyril Despres will ride in next years (knock knock) Dakar (knock knock) Rally "housekeeping..."
Huh? Pardon?
"You're welcome to take it for a ride. Just leave your bike, and take it for a few days if you want "housekeeping"
What the..?
That beautiful bright blue and white redbull rally work of art was fading. I wanted to take the guy up on his offer so bad!!  But he was fading too! What's going on?
Knock Knock Knock "Housekeeping"
Seriously!?! Man?!?

It's freekin 8am!

And that's how my morning started :)

The rest of the day was filled with sunshine, mountains and twisty smooth, fast, highways.

A quick stop for lunch turned into an exciting little trail adventure that had no real turnaround. So I just kept going. That bike is like driving a tour bus when it's loaded so it wasn't hard to get in a little too deep, when the trail turned to thin-winding-little-path... in the forest. The term "single track" would have been far to generous. Good fun.

I rolled into Prince George and sprayed the bugs off the bike. Found that one of my Touratech aluminum rad guards is cracked. I'll have to jb weld it tomorrow, and see if it holds.

Looking forward to the drive to Kitwanga BC tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is as nice as it was today! Only needed one extra layer.

Can't say the same for tonight though. It's chilly at the little Blue Cedars Campground.

Night y'all, see ya tomorrow.

(I wish I could add an audio clip of the bloody racket the coyotes are makin' right now!)

Here's some pics:
